In the middle of Ålesund, more specifically Notenesgata 1, you will find restaurant Bro. The restaurant consists of both a casual fine dining restaurant and a coffee bar, which transforms into a cocktail bar in the evening.

Experienced people behind Bro

Restaurant Bro has several well-known names within the industry on their payroll. Joakim Hoff is the restaurant manager. He is a trained chef and sommelier and has worked in the industry for over 20 years. Before working at Bro, Joakim was a restaurant manager and wine manager at the legendary Grand Hotel in Oslo.

The Head Chef at Bro is none other than Ronny Kolvik. For the past seven years, he was Head Chef and general manager at the renowned restaurant Arakataka in Oslo. He has now moved back to his hometown Ålesund to run the kitchen here at Bro and works hard to create exciting menus for his hungry guests.

 

Seasonal menu

The menu at Bro is an á la carte menu that follows local seasonal items. They change their menu frequently according to the availability of the best local ingredients. This mentality is applied to the lunch menu as well as the pastries upstairs in the coffee bar. The restaurant works around the concept of coastal gastronomy, which is reflected in the menu.

On Sundays, they have a concept called ‘Sunday dinner,’ where you can bring the whole family to a cozy traditional dinner made from local ingredients.

 

Upstairs at Bro

On the floor above the restaurant is the coffee bar, which opens at 9.00 in the morning. They have cozy couches and chairs to sit in while you enjoy your coffee in relaxed surroundings.

Lunch is available from 11.00, and at 16.30, the coffee shop transforms into a cocktail bar. At Bro, guests can sit and work in the morning and then participate in large or smaller events later in the day.

Bar manager Øystein Oksnes aims to introduce guests to new and exciting cocktails. He recently got 4th place in the NM in bartending. Bro is the kind of place that is just as suitable for a morning coffee as it is for an evening with a 7-course menu in great company.
