A Legendary Café in Tallinn Old Town
Café-restaurant C’est La Vie first opened its doors over 15 years ago. After a brief hiatus, this legendary establishment is back. While it still charms guests with its 1930s Art Deco interior, the new owners have placed greater emphasis on the dinner menu.
Exquisite Flavors of French Cuisine
C’est La Vie is dedicated to the traditional and beloved tastes of French cuisine. “We serve classic French dishes, and you won’t find fine dining-style experiments here. It’s hard to single out just one standout dish from our menu because, honestly, everything is truly delicious—something our guests consistently confirm with their feedback,” says C’est La Vie’s host, André Abner.
Among the most popular dishes, André highlights the Beef Bourguignon, praised for its incredibly tender meat. As expected for fans of French cuisine, Bœuf à la Tartare is a standout favorite, available in two sizes—as an appetizer or a main course. The oven-roasted corn-fed chicken with Duchess potatoes is also a guest favorite.
Seafood lovers will find plenty to enjoy as well. “Our lightly spiced shrimp and mussels are often the reason people stop by, and of course, we offer oysters served daily with a glass of champagne,” André shares.
The expertise, skills, and passion of head chef Irina Bernardova, gained from working in French restaurants, are clearly reflected in the dining experience. Without a doubt, C’est La Vie offers the most authentic French cuisine in town. The menu also features a touch of Estonia—the whitefish caught off the coast of Hiiumaa is one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes.
Space for Larger Groups
C’est La Vie also offers a private dining room that can accommodate up to 16 guests, depending on the table arrangement. Additionally, a separate hall on the lower floor can seat up to 28 people and is available by reservation.
A Romantic Outdoor Terrace
During the warmer months, guests can enjoy a charming courtyard terrace—so picturesque that it feels like stepping into another world.
