Restaurant Rudolf resides on R. Tobiase 11-1 in Tallinn. The restaurant is close to many attractions such as Anton Hansen Tammsaare Museum, Kadriorg Park and Kadriorg Carousel. In the forefront of Rudolf restaurant stand two men - head chef Sten Märtin with his modern take on French and Europe cuisine, and Erik Tammeleht whose attention to detail creates a fine dining worthy experience.

The story behind the name ‘Rudolf.’

Rudolf Tobias, born in 1873 in Hiiu County, was without a doubt given a suitable first name. The name, comprising of the German word, stems from ‘fame’ and ‘wolf.’ It is very symbolic when looking at the life of the island boy. Tobias was driven by his life-affirming frame of mind and his passion for greatness. He was as optimistic and wilful as he was impatient. Therefore, many of his grand ideas met their natural, inevitable end halfway through when he was captivated by something new and more exciting.

Even so, the prevalent tune of his life was his belief in a better future.

In the restaurant Rudolf we have drawn a lot of inspiration from the great composer. From the restaurant you can find one of Estonia’s first cook books named “1331 söögiwalmistamise õpetusega”, which was very popular during R. Tobias life in Estonia, there you can find recipes for Crème brulee and many other French delicacies. We want to serve food that respects the roots while boldly experimenting with the new. We want to provide an experience!

The experience lies within the details

In addition to the cosy view that Kadriorg has to offer, the interior of the restaurant is also an eyeful. Rudolf’s interior designer, Tiiu Truus, was inspired by Rudolf Tobias’ musical contribution to the Estonian history, so the shelves on the walls almost look like a manuscript paper for notes. On the very same shelves you can find artpieces from several Estonian and foreign artists. Tasteful interior creates a luxurious atmosphere for the guests where even the champagne glasses are designed to release champagne bobbles from the right places.
