The importance of the cod in the north of Norway

The cod is extremely important to the economy in the cities along the coast. Thanks to the cod, the people have been able to settle and live on seafood. Without the cod, it would not be likely that people would have settled in the North of Norway. Every year for thousands of years, the cod and skrei (Arctic cod) swim from the Barents Ocean to the coast of North Norway where they continue to Lofoten to spawn.

Local and traditional dishes

At Full Steam, they serve traditional dishes from local produce such as cod tongues, caviar, soused herring, smoked whale ham, stock fish, fish soup, skrei (Arctic cod), whale steak, seal steak and salted cod stew. Maybe you can get the catch of the day.
