Welcome to Restaurant KØL! The name Køl comes from Østfold's way of pronouncing the word kull (English: coal). Behind the concept are two experienced men who live for great food, especially in regards to barbequing! The restaurant opened in the summer of 2019.
Developed the concept after a trip to the USA
KØL's concept became a reality after Tobias and Claes trip across the United States. The goal of the trip was not just fun and games and road trips through American landscapes. No sir! The curious owners had one goal with the trip - to hunt down the secret behind good, authentic BBQ cuisine, and through the act of sheer will, they found it!
Today, the lessons, experiences and ideas from Gustafsson and Brink’s US trip come to life at KØL, together with inspiration from Mexico and the rest of the world. The result is delicious and juicy dishes, which are highly praised by guest reviewers.
When two experienced restaurant owners merge
Tobias Gustafsson owns and operates Restaurant Slippen. The restaurant has excelled on a national basis, and in 2018 it was named Norway's best seafood restaurant. With him on the team is Claes Brink, who owns two other restaurants in Fredrikstad - Chowburger and St.Raw.
A menu that makes your stomach rumble properly!
On the menu, you will find dishes that will make your stomach rumble. We are talking Beef Short Ribs (12 hours in the smoker), Prime Brisket (14 hours in the smoker) and crayfish grilled in Josperovn. How about topping it with a milkshake, so that the meal is complete in true American style! For milkshakes, you can choose between strawberry, vanilla and chocolate.
Besides meat and milkshakes, they have a tasty side menu, with temptations such as sweet potato fries and coleslaw. Yummy!
