Brasserie France

Just a few steps from Karl Johans Gate on Øvre Slottsgate 16, you will find a small French oasis where you can relax with an authentic French dining experience. Brasserie France is suitable for everyone, whether you want a casual lunch or an entire evening full of exquisite dishes and wine.

The history of Brasserie France

in 1979 D’Artagnan restaurant opened in Nedre Slottsgate. After four years, the restaurant moved to the 2nd and 3rd floors of the current address in Øvre Slottsgate. The restaurant’s reputation quickly spread throughout the city in the early 80s and became well-known for its food, great drinks and modern style.

In 1991, the ‘little brother,’ A Touch of France, arrived in the building. The new era began in 2005 when both restaurants became Brasserie France.

Four friends had a dream

In 2001 the current owners of the restaurant took over the two French restaurants. The four friends Ingun, Knut, Pål and Knut, had a dream of running a restaurant that offered the same delicious things that you could get at brasseries in France.

While the ideas and French concepts of the restaurants were continued, they decided to merge the two restaurants into one. Today, Brasserie France is an authentic French restaurant residing on no less than four floors.

45 employees

Seventeen years after the four friends took over, they all remain and continue to run the restaurant. Besides the four owners, they have a team of no less than forty-five employees in the age range from seventeen to sixty-three. Everyone has a role, and everyone is equally important in ensuring the wheels keep turning, whether it be chefs or cleaners.

Delicious menus with French classics

Brasserie France has several different menus you can order from. They have a lunch menu full of small and larger dishes, a regular á la carte menu, the 3-or 4-course menu of the day as well as several composite menus for larger groups. On their menus, you can find classic French dishes such as onion soup, garlic snails ‘au gratin’ and tartar.

If you want a delicious, authentic French meal with a tasty drink, then Brasserie France is a sure winner.
