Simultaneously with the railway arriving in Malling in 1884, a brand new inn also opened. Since then, the place has served as an inn, and although the owners have changed over time, the spirit of the place remains the same. A warm and cosy place where the service is heartfelt, and the food tastes delightful.

Familiar settings

In the summer of 2022, Malling Kro welcomed a new host couple, namely head chef Nikolaj and his wife Mie. Nikolaj's connection to the inn goes back 10 years when he started his apprenticeship there. After some educational years, he returned in 2021, and together with Mie, they will continue the warm and welcoming atmosphere that you feel as soon as you step inside the inn.

An inn full of soul and charm

Malling Kro is centrally located in the idyllic village of Malling by Stationspladsen. The old building was constructed in 1884, exuding soul and history, giving the place a particular charm. Over the years, many people have visited the inn, satisfying their hunger and thirst, which is still possible today. However, the restaurant has undergone extensive renovations, making the place brighter and more inviting with a modern Nordic look. When the sun shines, you can also enjoy a lovely meal in the charming courtyard or on the terrace.

Gastronomy with plenty of flavour

At Malling Kro, a good meal revolves around passion and craftsmanship. Simple compositions allow each element to shine, providing flavorful experiences. They take pride in cooking from scratch and treating seasonal ingredients with respect.

Moreover, they strive to have a selection of wines that complement the menu and that, together with you, continually enrich our senses and knowledge.

Accommodations and culture

Malling Kro has a delightful restaurant but is also a cosy small hotel. They have eight rooms at the inn, all located on the first floor of the house and unique in their own way. The rooms have all been renovated to be inviting and create the setting for a relaxing and cosy stay.

Right opposite the inn is Aarhus Light Rail, so you can quickly get to Aarhus, which has a lot to offer.

If you are into cultural experiences, a visit to Den Gamle By, Moesgaard Museum, ARoS Art Museum, or Musikhuset Aarhus might be right up your alley.

If you prefer nature-rich experiences, the area offers some of East Jutland's best beaches, Marselisborg Deer Park, or the Botanical Garden. There are plenty of opportunities to combine your stay with experiences of every kind.

The entire staff is looking forward to welcoming you in the inn's beautiful and newly renovated surroundings.
