Øens Spisested
Holmbladsgade 71 shares coordinates with Prismen: a sports and culture house. Therefore, of course, they also have an associated café. The name is Øens Spisested, and here social events are combined with solid cooking.
Modern Danish kitchen style
Øens Spisested specializes in Danish cuisine. Here you will find chef Yngve by the kitchen table preparing the guests' orders. He and his team’s philosophy is that food should be straightforward. They also believe that the dishes should taste of the ingredients it consists of, which they succeed in doing here at Øens Spisested.
The menu changes every week according to season and Yngve goes hunting in Amager Fælled and Kløvermarken to find various herbs and berries. Øens Spisested’s very own fisherman, René, also picks up today’s fish from Øresund. The prices are sympathetic, and they never compromise on quality.
A cultural gathering point
At Øens Spisested, they can boast of being more than just a dining house. It is a meeting place and a gathering point for various events for the city's citizens. Live music, poetry readings, wine and beer tastings, film screenings, and much more combine culture with sublime cuisine.
Every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, it is a Madklub where you can enjoy great dining experiences in an informal setting. During the summer months, the events are also outside, where you can experience musical elements on the café's small stage. The event is called Sol på Bagsiden, and the concert is free. The place also works closely with local associations.
A piece of Amager history
The area in and around Holmbladsgade has a long and varied history, and they want to make sure that it is kept alive. It can also be seen in the café's tables, which are branded with pictures depicting Amager's 300-year-old history. The artwork is made by the Danish-Mexican artist Rama King Nash.
