Who is Anton?

“Anton was my grandfather. And if you knew Bente, you knew him too – he was her husband. He was a legend on our street. A mate you could always count on. He loved a cold beer, a good chat, and a schnitzel – preferably without any greens on the side. (…) Anton never said no to a party. He always made room for a laugh, a bit of noise, and a whole lot of love. That’s why we named the bar after him.”

Anton isn’t just a bar. It’s a special place in the middle of Oslo where laughter flows easily, glasses clink in rhythm with the music, and no one asks where you’re from – only if you’re joining the next round. The doors are open to sharp suits and worn-out Converse alike. Whoever you are, you become Anton the moment you step inside.

The place is named after someone we all know – or at least feel like we do. The one who never said no to a party, but always made sure everyone felt good. The one who danced with a beer in hand and a sparkle in his eye. The one who knew when a conversation needed silence – and when silence needed a toast. That’s who Anton is built around.

A place for both sandwiches and sweaty dancefloors

By day, Anton is warm and generous. Here, the food feels like a hug from home – with a Danish-Norwegian twist. Classics made for sharing, flavors that stir something inside you, and drinks that make it all even better. There's room for long meals and quick glasses, whether you come alone or with a whole table of friends.

But when the evening rolls in, things loosen up. The DJ finds the rhythm, the floor fills up, and Anton turns into a small dancefloor with a big soul. The music is loud enough to let loose, yet soft enough to leave space for a quiet chat in the corner. Here, people dance at 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. – whether they’re staring at their feet or throwing their hands in the air.

A meeting place in the heart of the city

Anton sits where the pulse of the city converges, on the corner of Tordenskiolds gate and Kjeld Stubs gate. Right in the center, but with the feeling of stepping into something personal and real. East meets west here, regulars cross paths with the curious. It’s like a city living room: Vibrant, warm, and full of life.

A place for you – just as you are

Anton is for those who like their nights a little unpredictable, but always good. For those who appreciate a genuine smile from the bar, a schnitzel with no frills, and a place where you don’t need to be the coolest person to belong. Just show up as you are – and we’ll take care of the rest!
