Stand is the restaurant of Szabina Szullo and Tamas Szell. They were the first Hungarian chefs who won the Michelin star award at their former restaurant. The restaurant is located at Székely Mihály utca 2 in Budapest, Hungary.

About Stand

Szabina Szullo and Tamas Szell have tremendous experience at Michelin restaurant Onyx and Bocuse d'Or. Now, they are succeeding at their own restaurants at Stand25 and Stand. The restaurant’s menu is rooted in Hungarian cuisine with the use of Hungarian ingredients. They also ensure it meets the expectations of modern times and contemporary gastronomy.

The team at Stand is a highly committed team. Several of them have been working for the owners for years. The teams' commitment to making gourmet food is how they received their first Michelin star after just nine months of opening.

Michelin-starred restaurant

The gourmet restaurant was graced with the coveted Michelin star in the 2019 guide. The Guide said this of the esteemed restaurant:

“A smart, formal restaurant with contemporary monochrome styling and a kitchen on view behind glass. The cooking is modern, but the unfussy dishes have their heart in the Hungarian classics; the confident kitchen taking a just a handful of top-quality ingredients and allowing them to shine.”

The Michelin Guide also included the restaurants three specialties: pumpkin spaghetti with seaberry and pumpkin seeds, suckling pig, black pudding and stuffed cabbage and lastly, plums with kefir and fig leaf ice cream.

Chef Menu

At Stand, they offer simple dishes that focus on balanced flavours that simultaneously harmonize with Hungarian ingredients. They also focus on sustainability, and therefore, work with Hungarian producers. For lunch, the restaurant offers a three or four-course menu, where you choose between a variety of dishes, all depending on your palate’s desires.

For dinner, you can choose a 4-course menu similar to the lunch menu where you get to choose which dishes to include, or you can opt for the 8-course Chef menu. The delicious gourmet menu includes dishes such as confit yellow beetroot, baked garlic, pumpkin seed, Gulyás Soup and smoked duck liver.
