Stand is the restaurant of Szabina Szullo and Tamas Szell. They were the first Hungarian and even Central-European chefs who won the Michelin star award at their former restaurant. Stand is located at Székely Mihály utca 2 in Budapest, Hungary.

About Stand

Hungarian gastronomy is full of possibilities, and from the very start the chefs of Stand have felt that showcasing it in all its beauty and diversity is of the utmost importance. This is what they strived at their previous restaurants, as well as at the Bocuse D’Or, and now at their own restaurants at Stand25 and Stand. They place great emphasis on sustainable development, terroir, working together with Hungarian producers and, most importantly, taste and flavours. The menu attempts to primarily reflect the possibilities afforded by Hungarian ingredients, showcasing their notion of Hungarian cuisine, while ensuring that it meets all the expectations of modern times and contemporary gastronomy.

In 2023 the team of Stand reached the podium at the Bocuse d’Or Grand Finals in Lyon, and finished the world’s most famous culinary contest with a bronze statue.

Michelin-starred restaurant

Stand got the first Michelin star just 9 months after the opening, and in 2022 Michelin Guide rewarded it with two stars. This is what Michelin Guide says about the restaurant:

A central glass-walled kitchen is the focal point of this eye-catching modern restaurant; a dining room sits either side, and there’s a chatty buzz to the room – helped along by the personable service team. The two experienced chef-owners are proud of their Hungarian roots and skilfully reinvent and modernise classic Hungarian dishes using a wide range of techniques. Wonderful flavours and textures abound, and build steadily throughout the meal. When it comes to wine, look to the Hungarian options – there are some great sweet Tokajis on the list.

Chef Menu

At Stand, they offer simple dishes that focus on balanced flavours that simultaneously harmonize with Hungarian ingredients. They also focus on sustainability, and therefore, work with Hungarian producers. You can choose a 6-course menu or you can opt for the 8-course Chef menu also with wine pairing. A vegetarian tasting menu is also available.
