The food served in Bøf & Ost is inspired by the rural French cuisine, with dishes such as moules marinière, bouillabaisse, entrecôte with provence sauce and mainly French cheeses. The menu follows the changing seasons and the various fresh produce that are available from day to day. Bøf & Ost opened in 1972 and was then the first restaurant in Denmark to offer guests the possibility of dining outside. The inspiration for Bøf & Ost comes from the lively restaurants in Southern France with benches and clay pots with olives on the raw wood tables. Bøf & Ost is located in the basement of the oldest and smallest building on the charming square, Gråbrødretorv. It is located on the very spot where the Franciscan Gråbrødre munks in 1238 built their monestary and in the basement there are wall fragments which date back to the Middle Ages. These historic surroundings make the perfect background for the cosy atmosphere in Bøf & Ost.
