Freia Bar & Lounge

Freia’s Spisestue is one of three restaurants that reside in the Hotel Alsik. The architecture was designed by world-famous Canadian and American architect Frank Gehry. In the spring of 2019, Hotel Alsik opened its doors, and in June, Freia’s Spisestue invited their guests inside for a delicious gourmet meal or two.

The secret ingredient is hygge

The restaurant is decorated with a Nordic interior, which gives the room wonderful light and colour. At Freia’s Spisestue, everything revolves around hygge. Hygge is a famous Danish definition for the word cozy, yet it represents much more than that – it represents Denmark.

To give Freia’s guests the best kind of hygge, everything from the view to the menu has been carefully chosen for this restaurant.

Famous Master Chef

Born and bred in Aabenraa, Jesper Koch has returned to his roots and is now taking on all three restaurants at Hotel Alsik. Koch has over 20 years of experience in the culinary world, and he won Chef of the Year in 2000 and Restaurant of the Year for Restaurant Koch in 2005.

He also owns several other restaurants, such as Det Glade Vanvid and Kocheriet. He is currently most known for being a judge on the popular MasterChef show.

Unique gourmet cuisine with an attitude

Freia’s cuisine is uniquely gourmet cuisine with an attitude. The dishes are familiar yet somehow different at Freia’s Spisestue. Their focus is to stay rooted in Danish cuisine. They offer both sweet and savoury dishes for lunch, such as open potato sandwiches and omelets made of organic farm eggs or the Danish specialty Øllebrød.

If you wish to dine in the evening, then you can choose between two delicious menus, either a three or a five-course meal. At Freia’s, either way, you will be enjoying a wonderfully reinterpreted gourmet meal.
