BISTRO 23

Restaurant Galionen is located in one of Nyhavn's best locations and best preserved houses, more specifically in no. 23. It's a Steak & Lobster Restaurant with a menu that includes freshly caught lobsters and juicy, tender steaks. If you stop by for lunch, the menu is more classic Danish with a selection of Danish open sandwiches and other traditional Danish dishes.

Historical house

The building was built around 1620 and until around 1800 it was mainly used as residence -  for instance the famous Elverhøj composer, Kuhlau, lived in the building. The lower floor of the house has also served as a pub, where drunken sailors drank schnapps and beer galore. It is one of the best locations in the middle of the sunny streets of Nyhavn

The historic building bears the mark of quality, comfort and a good atmosphere – and so does the menu at Restaurant Galionen. They serve well-prepared dishes made from fresh ingredients created to pamper your taste buds. Additionally follows good wines and a glass of draft beer if you want. You can pick a single dish from the a la carte menu, or you can choose a three- and five-course menu if you are really hungry.

If it is cold or rainy outside you can always get yourself comfortable indoor in the cozy little restaurant. Inside the room is filled with historic charm and decorated with an old porcelain fireplace, old pharmacies ceilings and a magnificent view overlooking the lively atmosphere in the old port.
