Restaurant Jordnær

Jordnær is a Michelin-starred restaurant housed in the historic 350-year-old Gentofte Hotel where the duo Chef Eric Kragh Vildgaard and Restaurant Manager Tina Kragh Vildgaard bring forth new tones rooted in French traditions and Danish ingredients. Jordnær opened in April 2017 and has since had immediate success. Therefore, it is recommended to book a reservation well in advance.

Forbes Top 10 Coolest Places to Eat in 2020

The restaurant was recently featured in Forbes magazine as one of the coolest places to visit in 2020. Kristian Brask Thomson, who is a culinary ambassador, award-winning filmmaker (Michelin Stars) has said this of the restaurant:

“Jordnær took everyone in Denmark by surprise when Michelin awarded the then-unknown restaurant in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen a star during its first year of opening. Since then, it has been full-throttle on flavors—creating picturesque plates and mouth-watering creations of Nordic, French and Asian ingredients cooked with remarkable harmony. Jordnær is already a very serious contender for a second Michelin star.”

Furthermore, Restaurant Manager Tina Kragh Vildgaard was nominated for Best Restaurant Manager 2019 in the Danish Eating Guide, Jordnær received a 79 (Master’s Level) in the White Guide 2018 and has achieved one star in the Michelin Guide.

1 Michelin-starred Restaurant

Jordnær has exceeded all expectations in the last couple of years. The restaurant, which opened in April 2017, succeeded in earning a Michelin star after just ten months of being open. They preserved the star in 2019. The restaurant has gained immense success quickly and shows no signs of slowing down. A second Michelin star is very much within arm’s length. However, Jordnær is a place where passion for food remains the most important.

Jordnær Menu

Jordnær has one tasting menu, and it costs 1650 DKK. It is, however, also possible to order the ‘Taste of Jordnær’ menu, which consists only of five servings and two snacks. The smaller one, however, needs to be ordered 24 hours before arrival. The restaurant offers both wine and tea pairings that fit accordingly with the dishes.
